JERMYN STREET THEATRE
presents
LITTLE EYOLF
by Henrik Ibsen
Translated by Michael Meyers
Directed by Anthony Biggs
One of Henrik Ibsen’s final plays is a master class of the inevitable laws of change, enduring love and the guilt of ambition. Alfred Allmers returns from the mountains wholly dedicated to the welfare of his crippled son, Eyolf, much to the consternation of his wife Rita and sister Asta. An unexpected visit from the mythical Rat Wife triggers a chain of irrevocable consequences that will offer no redemption.
A tragedy that ‘tempts us in spite of ourselves’ (George Bernard Shaw) this rarely seen timeless classic has been heralded by critics as Ibsen’s finest work. Unmissable.
